Before the recent renovation works between 2014 and 2015, the BPS22 was already a space for contemporary creation (intra and extra muros) and a pioneer of Charleroi’s cultural growth since 2000. Today like yesterday, the BPS22 puts on show temporary, monographic or group exhibitions privileging art forms centred on the evolution of our society and the cultural issues that characterise our era.

The other main identity marker of the BPS22 programme resides in the unique proposition to create the artistic filiations that go beyond the classifications of traditional history of art.

As an art Museum, “art” being considered in its widest sense, the BPS22 decompartmentalises styles and eras by putting works independently from their technical or historical classifications side-by-side. For this reason, the Museum also hosts more eventfocused experiments that weave ties between the arts and music, dance, theatre, performance, the urban sports etc.
